Thank you for this discussion! It gave me a much better understanding of this lesson. I’ve read from a few sources that the one of the Hebrew verbs (yada) translates into English as “to know” and refers to a covenant relationship. Sometimes this refers to the marriage relationship and sometimes this readers to the relationship one has with God through making covenants. Is it possible that when the scriptures says that Eli’s sons did not “know” God that the meaning is that they had broken those covenants or that relationship with God? I may be way off and it is a completely different word used in this reference, but I am curious. Thank you again for the insightful discussion!
