Great insights. I found it particularly helpful to consider the notion that the account in Joshua may be akin to propaganda, and that the Book of Mormon implies that the Cananites were not all destroyed. It is difficult (or impossible?) to reconcile the loving God I know with the account of the genocide in Joshua. Just reminds me that in the last days “even the very elect will be deceived”. Trying to force the loving Father into the mould of the tyrannical killer of innocents was doing my head in. I find an alternative hypothesis helpful. Thank you
