I think Lewis is at his best and can help Latter-day Saints most with his work on Natural Law. My favorite work of his so far is The Abolition of Man. It has only become more relevant!
My youngest two and I almost missed Narnia! The first chapter was a little boring, and the younger one said so. But the older one, speaking from a place of superiority, said, “”I want you to read it to us!”
I am forever grateful that whatever the motivation, we had months of great reading–which led, of course, to other great reading!
Thanks so much for reminding me of adventures in Narnia!
I’m really pleased that you enjoyed Narnia — and especially that your kids did. I hope that many more will, also.
We had just finished reading the series to our kids a few weeks ago and they were hooked.
The thing that perhaps intrigued me the most is how much better people became around Aslan if they believed in him. As I keep trying to get close to Christ, I hope that a similar effect is wrought on me.
My kids were hooked, too. They’re great stories, enjoyable on multiple levels.
And, yes, they convey “goodness” very well.
