There is one thought on “A Uni-Dimensional Picture of a Multi-Faceted Nauvoo Community”.

  1. Richard Bennett has done a fine job of extolling the excellence of much of Ben Park’s work while also reminding us of the very complex society that was expanding at almost breakneck speed from 1842-1844.

No single book will ever capture that extraordinary moment in church history, but we need to remind ourselves, especially these days, that politics does not drive everything in American culture.

One hopes we will see more about the restoration as a movement driven as much by religious experience and revelation as by politics.

Again, many thanks to Richard Bennett for this fine, evenhanded review.
