  1. I now want to amend my comment. The Christian festival of the resurrection of Jesus has in most European languages taken the name of the Jewish Passover. This is not, however, true in English. The English Easter seems to come from Eostre, a pagan goddess whose festival, called Eastron, was celebrated at the spring equinoix. It is not clear why a pagan word was adopted in English.

      Try Wikipedia and you will find a reasonable answer to your questions. I like what is called the Paschal greeting on the cay we celebrate the victory of God himself over death in all its forms. This greeting takes several different forms. One can say to someone on the day on which we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord: “Christ is risen,” to which the other one will reply “Truly, he is risen.”
